Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency is a website where you can find videos and other commentary analysing portrayals women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic with awards to show in her field, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency an online platform dedicated to education, which examines gender roles within popular culture, is directed by Sarkeesian. Dispelling stereotypes of women is the primary focus of her work. However, Sarkeesian also wants to highlight issues such as the discrimination and harassment of women who are online. The holder of a master's degree in social and political thought from York University Sarkeesian is also popular as a public speaker and she has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Attracted to issues related to gender and feminism since her early years, she founded her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009 when she was studying at the university. The determined lady had planned to create a web series on gender representation in video games and found herself the victim of a cyber-bullying campaign. But the harassment did not hinder her. The experience only strengthened her in her role as a journalist who is feminist. She has won numerous awards due to her important contributions to the field of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for several years and founded Feminist Frequency, an non-profit educational organization that studies the representation of women in pop culture.
